When people say 'dinner-plate dahlia,' this is often the variety they're picturing. Kelvin Floodlight produces enormous, luminous yellow blooms that can exceed 11 inches across. The color is sunshine itself — bright, clean, and impossible to miss from across a garden. A benchmark variety for the formal decorative class.

    Growing Notes

Needs rich soil and consistent watering to reach full potential. Heavy feeder — apply low-nitrogen, high-phosphorus fertilizer (5-10-10) every two weeks during bloom season. Must be staked — these blooms are heavy. Disbud side shoots for maximum bloom size at shows. In the garden, leave laterals for more (slightly smaller) blooms.

    Biggest blooms I've ever grown

Measured one at nearly 12 inches. The yellow is so bright and cheerful. Makes everything around it look better.

    Great but demanding

Beautiful blooms but needs lots of feeding and water. Skip a week and you'll notice. Worth the effort though.
