Bishop of Llandaff
ADS #0089
Bishop of Llandaff is arguably the most famous dark-leaved dahlia in existence. The combination of brilliant scarlet peony-form blooms against dramatically dark, near-black foliage creates a contrast that few other plants can match. Named after a Welsh cathedral, this heritage variety has won the RHS Award of Garden Merit — twice.

Growing Notes
Compact and bushy — one of the few dahlias that rarely needs staking. The dark foliage is ornamental even before blooming starts. Plant in full sun; shade diminishes the foliage color. Prolific bloomer that doesn't need deadheading as aggressively as larger types. Excellent in mixed borders alongside ornamental grasses.

Even before a single bloom opens, the dark foliage is stunning. Then the scarlet flowers start and it's just perfection.
Compact grower that blooms early and keeps going. Great for the front of a border.
